ITAS Enterprise Reporting Database
Fast access to data and its history, enables organisations to cut costs, manage risk, match patterns and control workflow so that operational procedures, financial activities and strategic decision making can be positively affected.
The ITAS Enterprise Reporting Database compliments the traditional ITAS operational Database by allowing fast, direct, low level access to trading entity data without affecting the smooth running of ITAS data input activities. This includes calculated fields such as contract value and the comparison of multiple data points over time.
The ability to transition data from the ITAS Operational Database to the ITAS Reporting Database without impacting performance, creates the possibility of using database snapshots to compare and analyse data in order to assess patterns, gaps and anomalies to inform better strategic and operational decision making.

Business Benefits

  • Share ITAS data and reports with staff, departments and applications who do not have access to ITAS.
  • Pre-populate historical, frozen data so your reports include data previously collected allowing the removal of frozen databases with the Operational Database to free up data storage.
  • Normalise data to suit the reporter with industry-standard reporting.
  • Use Business Intelligence data design for faster report delivery time and lower data footprint.
  • Allow storage of calculated values, such as Contract Value to be maintained in the Reporting Database.
  • Allow automated and manual data migration for flexible data exports to suit daily reporting requirements (via Traders Desktop).
  • Enable strategic business decision making based on historical facts from your business data.
  • Compatible with many contemporary reporting tools (e.g. SQL 2016, Cognos, Crystal, QlikView, Tableau, SAS, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) etc.)
  • As ITAS becomes more service-based, the dependency of on-premises hardware (and associated costs) reduces.

Problems Solved

  • Ability to compare and merge data with other enterprise data sources (e.g. Risk, Financial, Sales and CRM systems) cross application reporting.
  • Share data across your Intranet/Reporting System for ease of access for all your users.
  • Can be used as Data Warehouse for local and enterprise reporting or as a source for external services including SaaS, SalesForce and others.
  • Ability to slice and dice data including filtering of snapshots for specific products, locations, and counterparties.

How it works

The Reporting Database schema is simplified, normalised and designed for fast reading. Data is migrated to the Reporting Database either as an automated or manual process which is managed via the Traders Desktop. Data is sanitised and compacted in to a series of ‘Stars’ (via SSIS) which combine to form a Data Mart or Data Warehouse. The Data Stars are accessible via a reporting tool of your choice via standard SQL queries.
Full documentation of the entire Enterprise Reporting Database Data Stars are available in the ITAS SDK which also includes example queries for your developers so they can generate the reports you need.
